50 Shades of Social Media 2: Electric boogaloo, down at the Victorian State library.

The State library Victoria wields their curvaceous, domed body with ease through the murky waters that is social media. Their many tiered approach to the baffling beast called "social media" is a full forced attack on the collective mind of their patrons with the soft-kindness of a feathered sword.

The first approach is their Facebook page. Facebook the looming juggernaut is in command of communication. Their loud and obnoxiously clear voice tells all the state libraries followers where they should be to get the most out of the library held events. Facebook is used by the SLV to promote up and coming events associated with the library.

The not so tiny twitter tells tales of information the SLV has found and think the people of Victoria will find interesting or informational. Tweets about Assange's plight or articles on the wellness of children. The seem to be tweeting around once a day to keep in contact with their people.

Flicker is SLV's favorite historian, it holds all their ye olde photographs. Some of sheep, some of footballers and others of ladies on bicycles. This historian likes their photographs, loves them in fact! All the SLV photos seem to be digital copies of historic photographs of Victoria.

YouTube is SLV's version of Hollywood. The SLV YouTube channel holds videos of famous people reading from their favorite books, ways to discover the libaries quirky areas and items, current and cool things going on, and visitors to the library talking about what they think.

Ultimately The state library of Victoria is winning this war on the every shade of social media. With whip and chain in hand they lead the way for the small, frightened, and subservient libraries.
